For decades, India’s assistive technology landscape was scattered. Inventors, startups, manufacturers—many were doing meaningful work. Yet they were disconnected. No platform to share learnings. No association to represent them at national forums. No joint voice to speak up for policies, standardization, or global access.
While assistive products were being made, the system lacked harmony. And for millions of people with disabilities, that meant slower access, poor-quality devices, or no information at all. For the government, there was no unified body to consult. For funders, the space felt fragmented.
The Realization
This wasn’t just a gap. It was a missing bridge between innovation and impact. A few passionate professionals—already working in assistive tech for over twenty years—saw the cost of this divide. They knew that without a formal association, India’s vast potential in AT manufacturing would remain underutilized.
So, in Gurugram, Haryana, a movement began. Quietly, intentionally, and with purpose.
The Birth of Aatma
Aatma—The Association of Assistive Technology Manufacturers—was founded as India’s first and only dedicated body for assistive tech producers. It brings together everyone: engineers, innovators, SMEs, health-tech startups, and policy advocates.
Aatma is not just a membership platform. It’s a mission—to give every AT manufacturer the tools, voice, recognition, and systems they need to scale their impact. To standardize, certify, and connect with both the government and the people.

Today, Aatma stands for trust, collaboration, and future-readiness. From meeting medical leaders like ICMR Delhi to speaking with global AT brands, we’re slowly stitching the network India needs.
